Born in Italy 1965.
From 1984, after graduated at the Scuola Piccolo Teatro in Milano, he worked shortly for La Scala in Milano e for fashion photographers at Vogue Italia. Since then, till 1993, Sergio Ballo used to work as an assistant and wardrobe department for several international productions ( "The Portrait of a Lady " Director Jane Campion, "Cyrano de Bergerac" Director Jean-Paul Rappeneau, "The Last Temptation" Director Martin Scorsese) collaborating with Oscar winners costume designers as Franca Squarciapino, Maurizio Millenotti, Janet Patterson, John Mollo.
In 1994 Gabriella Pescucci gave him the opportunity to co-design for Martha and Dino de Laurentiis "Slave of Dreams" and "Solomon and Sheba", TV moovies directed by Robert Young.
In 1998 the meeting with Marco Bellocchio was signing an important step in his professional career: "The Nurse" , "My Mother Smile", "Good Morning Night", "The Wedding Director", "Vincere".
At the same time Sergio Ballo was designing costumes for TV movies as "Judas" Director Charles Carner, "Francesco" Director Michele Soavi, and for feature films as "The Emperor's New Clothes" Director Alan Taylor, "Anton Cechov, the Duel" Director Dover Koshashvili.
Occasionally he works for Theater and Opera(" Rigoletto in Mantua" with Domingo and Raimondi)
In 2000 and 2010 he was nominated and won the italian Awards "David di Donatello", in 2007 and 2010 Premio Cinearti "La Chioma di Berenice", in 2000 "Capitello d'Oro" Sannio Film Festival, in 2000 "Ciak d'Oro" as best costume designer.
